Another week, another free game being put on offer by the Epic Games Store. This week, it"s Rebel Galaxy replacing Enter the Gungeon.
A space simulation title, Rebel Galaxy was originally released in 2015, developed by Double Damage Games, a studio founded by Travis Baldree and Erich Schaefer. One may find these names familiar; the duo was also among the founding members of Runic Games of Torchlight fame.
Rebel Galaxy is a single-player title that give players free-will to make several choices, much like an RPG, which means there"s occasional combat as well. If, however, combat is not what you prefer, you can also negotiate and trade your way out of situations. Here"s how the Epic Games Store describes the title:
Rebel Galaxy is a game of action-packed combat, exploration, discovery, trade, and “negotiation” with the outlandish denizens at the edge of the known universe.
You’ll battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. Choose your path as a roguish do-gooder, crafty space-trader or power-hungry privateer in this swashbuckling space adventure.
Epic Games Store is offering the title at no cost for players on Windows. It"s worth noting, however, that the game is also available on macOS via Steam, where it is currently priced at $19.99. Here are the minimum requirements for the game:
- OS: Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows 8, Windows 10
- Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, AMD Athlon™ X2 2.8 GHz, or higher
