Today gaming studio Red Barrels introduced the third chapter in its horror game series Outlast, The Outlast Trials. Currently, the game is still under production and no release window has been announced by the maker. Apart from confirming the existence of the new title, the Canadian game developer did not disclose any detailed information about its upcoming game.
The announcing post on Red Barrels" official Facebook page did not reveal much either, mentioning only the timeline the game will be set in, the fact that it will be a multiplayer title, and a promise to deliver yet another gory survival horror experience.
Welcome to The Outlast Trials.
The Red Barrels team is excited to announce our latest project in the Outlast universe. Set in the era of the Cold War, The Outlast Trials will allow players to face the horrors that await by themselves or with fellow test subjects 💉
The Outlast Trials is still in production, and as our co-founder David Chateauneuf puts it: “Now we’ve done our proof of concept, it is time focus on content creation, variety… and gore."
Get ready.
According to a comment on the Facebook announcement, Red Barrels also confirmed that The Outlast Trials will not be a VR game. The four-player cooperative game will not be a direct sequel to the previous titles in the Outlast series, but it will still be set in "the same thrilling universe".
As of right now, further details about The Outlast Trials are pretty scarce. It is also unknown whether the title will arrive on PC as well as consoles, like its predecessor Outlast 2, which arrived on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms at launch. Hopefully, more news will be available in the days to come.
