Based on the US comic, Red Star the frantic third-person arcade-shooter has released its latest movie. This movie displays the action at its most frenetic. Based around the concept of an alternative Russia and its technology-driven army The Red Fleet, you have the option of playing as one of three main characters, all of which offer different play experiences for the single-player.
However, it"s the multiplayer that sounds more intriguing, specifically the cooperative mode. Not only do you have a mix of futuristic hardcore guns but sorcery also features, as alternative Russia is a land where magic resides alongside technology. The mix of these two styles cooks up a different flavour of cooperative approach than a standard firefight and the ability to modify and enhance each other"s attacks via character interaction has interesting possibilities.
Reminiscent of many games from the past - from N64"s underrated Sin and Punishment to the classic Metal Slug series - The Red Star will be hoping to stamp its own indelible mark on arcade-shooters later this year.
The Red Star is scheduled to be released for PS2 and Xbox in the autumn.
