nubia"s RedMagic brand has developed some very interesting gaming-dedicated smartphones in the past few years, including the RedMagic 5S, which we reviewed back in the summer. Now, the company is introducing its own true wireless earbuds with the gaming brand, which it calls the Cyberpods.
The most striking thing about the earbuds is definitely its design, featuring RedMagic"s typical angular look and sharp-looking edges for the case and the buds themselves. They"re also unique because they have gone for the "gamer aesthetic" of being lit up. The case has three lights for the charging indicator and a set of lights on the inside that glow red when you open the case. The buds themselves have a lit-up RedMagic logo that glows red when they"re in gaming mode.
In terms of features, the Cyberpods aren"t too far off from other earbuds. They feature easy pairing with RedMagic phones, so all you need to do is open the case for them to pair automatically. With other brands of phones, they work like regular Bluetooth earbuds. They also have the aforementioned gaming mode, which offers latency as low as 39ms.
Each earbud has a 60mAh battery that promises up to four hours of battery life, and the charging case has 500mAh for an additional 20 hours, but there"s no fast charging or anything. The earbuds weigh about 5 grams each, and the case comes in at 58.4 grams.
The RedMagic Cyberpods will be available starting November 20, and they"ll cost $49.90 / €49.90 / £39.90. RedMagic also announced that the RedMagic 5S will be available in Eclipse Black on the same day, though the color will only be available for the configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It will cost the same $579/€579/£539 as the current Sonic Silver model.
