Redmi Note 5, Note 5 Pro and Mi TV 4 launched in India

Xiaomi took the stage in New Delhi, India to announce the Redmi Note 5, the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi TV 4 at an event that was hotly anticipated by the company"s fans for over a month.

Sticking to its winning formula of combining feature packed devices with an affordable price, the company unveiled the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro with a starting price of ₹9999 ($156) for the former and ₹13,999 ($218) for the latter. The Redmi Note 5 is a rebranded version of the Redmi 5 Plus, that was launched a couple of months ago in China. However, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a completely new smartphone which made its global debut yesterday.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first smartphone to feature the powerful Snapdragon 636 chipset which is said to deliver a flagship level performance. In terms of camera, the Note 5 Pro features a dual-camera setup for the first time on a Redmi smartphone and makes use of AI-based processing to deliver high quality portraits. Both smartphones are very competitively priced and will be available exclusively through Flipkart"s website.

In addition to the Redmi smartphones, Xiaomi pulled a surprise for its fans by launching the 4.9mm slim 4K Mi TV 4 in India. The TV was first unveiled last year at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, but was not launched outside of China until now. The company revealed that it had to work with many partners to make its PatchWall operating system compatible with Indian content providers. The Mi TV 4 will also be sold through Flipkart and is priced at ₹39,999 ($625) which is significantly less than other 4K TVs from the likes of Samsung and LG.
