Remedy announces Alan Wake 2, will be a survival horror experience

The haunted writer Alan Wake is coming back with a brand-new game of his own. Confirming many rumors, Remedy Entertainment officially announced Alan Wake 2 at The Game Awards today with a teaser trailer, catch it here (age restricted).

Coming with the tagline "Monsters wear many faces", the title will continue the fan-favorite franchise but take it in a new direction. Instead of an action game with horror elements, the sequel will be a survival horror experience. Remedy says while playing the previous games in the universe isn"t a requirement for enjoying the new title, those who know the storylines will understand the backstories better.

This will be the third game set in Remedy"s connected universe of supernatural titles after the original Alan Wake and the more recent Control. A spin-off co-op game based in this universe is also at the works at the studio. Alan Wake received a remaster recently as well, check out Neowin"s review of that release here.

Alan Wake 2 is launching across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 in 2023, meaning it will be a long wait. Epic Games is publishing the title, so expect this to be a permanent exclusive on the Epic Games Store.
