Remote voice control for Volvo cars is coming to the Microsoft Band 2 this Spring

Microsoft"s Band wearable has seen some unique integration in the form of TaylorMade golf tracking, Lose It!, Starbucks, and more. Today at CES 2016, Volvo Cars has introduced Microsoft Band 2 integration via its Volvo on Call app.

The updated app will allow users to dictate commands to their Volvo vehicle via their Microsoft Band 2. As seen from the video above, the user simply activates the Cortana feature and provides a command, which can range from heating the car, starting it, blinking the lights, honking the horn, and others.

Peggy Johnson, Microsoft"s Executive VP of business development shared her thoughts on the new integration:

Our ongoing partnership with Volvo continues to bring ground-breaking technology to enhance the automotive experience. Together with Volvo, we"re just beginning to understand the potential that technology has to improve driver safety and productivity.

This builds on Microsoft and Volvo"s existing relationship which demonstrated the use of Microsoft"s HoloLens technology back in November to enhance the car buying experience by allowing users to customize their dream car and closely examine vehicle features with the aid of full size high definition holograms.

Volvo has said that this integration will be available from Spring 2016 in markets and on models that support the Volvo on Call app.
