Amazon most likely won"t reveal specific sales numbers for the Kindle Fire tablet but that isn"t stopping others from stepping in and giving their own predictions. Late this week, the research firm iSuppli posted up a new report claiming that 3.9 million units of the seven inch Kindle Fire will be shipped out in the current fourth quarter of 2011.
Those shipment numbers, if they are proven to be true, could leapfrog the Kindle Fire to the number two best selling tablet device in the world, well ahead of other competing tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the Motorola Xoom and the Blackberry Playbook.
One of the big reasons for the Kindle Fire"s rise is, naturally, its $199 price point which is far cheaper than previous tablets. Indeed we have seen other tablets, such as the Playbook, cut their prices in order to compete.
iSuppli now says that overall tablet shipments will total 64.7 million units in 2011, a massive increase compared to just 17.4 million tablets shipped in 2010.
Even with the Kindle Fire"s success it still has a long way to go before it comes close to Apple"s iPad. iSuppli predicts that 18.5 million units of the iPad will ship worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2011.
