'Reset app' functionality coming to Windows 10 Mobile in the Creators Update

If you"ve ever had to uninstall and reinstall an app due to it working improperly, you"ll be excited to hear about a new feature that"s coming to Windows 10 Mobile. You"ll now be able to reset the data that apps have saved, putting them in a fresh state.

Already available on PCs, Aggiornamenti Lumia says that it will show up in the next Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build.

According to the site, there will be a few other changes to the Storage section of Settings (translated from Italian):

  • Removing colors to distinguish the memory space occupied by the various categories (Apps & Games, system, temporary files, etc.): Now the whole system will be replaced by the color of your device

  • More information on the use of application memory: Now we"ll finally be able to find out what application or game occupies in terms of physical memory and network data used by it

  • New RIES: This definitely is the main novelty introduced by Microsoft. Already present on Windows 10 (PC) from the Anniversary Update time, the Reset will completely restore applications and games when they do not work properly.

The next Insider Preview build for the Fast ring will be available this week, and since it"s been almost three weeks since we saw one for Windows 10 Mobile, it seems likely that there will be a build for phones. If you"re not on the Insider Program, you"ll see the new feature when the Creators Update rolls out in early 2017.
