Today, Capcom announced that Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be receiving PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X upgrades. The games already look excellent on PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro) and Xbox One X, so it"ll be interesting to see what benefits current-generation consoles bring to the table.
On PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 offer relatively stable performance, but could benefit from added visual effects. Maybe we"ll see ray tracing in some capacity like Resident Evil Village.

Nowadays, certain companies charge for PS5 upgrades, but Capcom confirmed that the patches will be free to existing owners of the game on both platforms. On Xbox Series X, you"ll automatically be upgraded to the current-generation version, but on PS5 you may have to download a separate game. Typically, PS5 games feature PS4 and PS5 versions on the PlayStation Store.
The upgrades for all three games are expected sometime in 2022. We"ll keep you posted as soon as we receive a concrete release date. You can purchase Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 for $39.99, $59.99, and $19.99, respectively, on the platform of your choice.
