Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind the Titanfall series, Jedi: Fallen Order, and Apex Legends, announced last year that it is making a virtual reality game, and even more surprisingly, it was going to be a Medal of Honor game. Today during the gamescom Opening Night Live event, the VR shooter received a flashy new trailer showcasing the single-player campaign, catch it above.
This Medal of Honor entry takes the series back to World War II, recruiting players into being an operative for the Office of Strategic Services to go behind enemy lines. The story campaign will feature three acts that serve action from the French countryside to the beaches of Omaha. Since it is a VR game, everything will be served to the player in first person, without any perspective changes or cutscenes.
The game will ship with a full suite of multiplayer modes too for fans keen on putting their shooting skills to test against other players in VR. However, that reveal is slated for another day.
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is incoming to Oculus Rift PC headsets this holiday. Although the trailer does show an Oculus Quest near the end, as the small print at the bottom states, playing it on the headset will require a Link cable that"s connected to a PC.
