The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) -- along with BBC Watchdog, The Home Office: "for the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security (ATCS) Act, Oftel, and any and all telecommunications analysts -- has been nominated for the ISPAs Internet Villain of the Year award.
The Internet Services Providers" Association (ISPA UK) has been organizing the UK Internet Industry Awards since 1999 to herald the best (and worse) of the Internet and application service providers industry and to celebrate innovation and best practice. In 2002 the awards were dubbed The ISPAs.
The Internet Villain award is selected by an industry judging panel who will "select an individual or organization in recognition of their achievements in upsetting the industry." The RIAA has been selected because of their "supporting (of) right to hack proposals and other unworkable solutions to curb copyright abuse."
The awards will be held during a gala dinner at the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square, London on the 20th February 2003.
