Nintendo"s fitness-oriented game, Ring Fit Adventure, is getting a free update today, the company announced during the latest Direct Mini presentation. The update adds a couple of new game modes, as well as other new features and improvements.
The highlight of the update is the addition of a rhythm game mode, which has the user perform actions with the Ring-Con and Joy-Con leg strap to the rhythm of various tracks from Nintendo games. The new mode includes 17 tracks from titles including Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
It works pretty much like other rhythm games, with icons on the screen indicating what you have to do next to stay in the rhythm, but in this case, the actions require you to exercise more than usual, and you can choose what parts of your body you want to train for a specific session.
Another new capability is the ability to simply jog through courses, removing battles from the scene. In both Custom and Quick Play modes, you"ll be able to choose a course to run through without encountering enemies, so you can simply run and navigate the courses.
Finally, the game is getting a few quality improvements. Ring, the player"s partner during the game, can now have a female voice option, and it"s also now possible to change the language it speaks in, regardless of your game"s language setting.
We reviewed Ring Fit Adventure when it first released, and found it to be a great way to stay active at home. These updates should provide even more incentive for players to keep moving, which is especially important during a time when many people are being forced to stay at home.
