Nobody can deny that Rocket League has been a cultural phenomenon since it launched on the PlayStation Network, giving it the fuel it needed to become such an iconic game. Recently, developer Psyonix has updated its active and total player base numbers, revealing that the game seems to become more popular by the minute.
According to the statistics revealed in a recent blog post, Rocket League has jumped another one million players to 34 million in total. This was up from the previous 33 million reported in July 2017. The developer also noted that the game has reached a massive 1.6 million active daily players, showing just how engaged gamers are in this competitive multiplayer side.
Psyonix revealed that the game will launch on the Nintendo Switch later this year, pointing to an even greater influx of gamers thanks to that system. This announcement was bolstered by the surprise reveal that the handheld console will support cross-network play between Xbox One and PC. During an interview, Psyonix also noted that the inclusion of this feature is a great competitive advantage for systems that support it.
Beyond these stellar engagement numbers, the developer is also introducing more stringent controls and reporting mechanisms to limit abuse that may occur in-game. This will require users who might be victims of such abuse to report this through specific channels, so it can be dealt with swiftly.
Rocket League is currently available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
