It has been close to two years since Rockstar Games first teased the arrival of Red Dead Redemption 2. While there hasn"t been a whole lot shared in terms of spoilers, the game is almost here, and Rockstar has now announced a connected online experience for the game called Red Dead Online.
According to the developer:
"Red Dead Online is an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience in the original Red Dead Redemption, blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways."
If this sounds familiar, it is because Rockstar Games has previously implemented something similar with Grand Theft Auto V when it introduced GTA Online. Needless to say, this isn"t an entirely unexpected move, considering that a robust online experience can keep a game alive well past its prime.
Speaking with IGN, the developer said that they have taken what they have learned from GTA Online and made sure to create the best experience possible with Red Dead Online (RDO). Players will have a more intimate experience with RDO, mainly because they won"t have cars, planes and other fast-moving modes of transportation like you did in Grand Theft Auto. Because of this, you"ll really be able to take in the world and make it your own.
Although Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch on October 26 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Red Dead Online is slated to arrive the following month, and even then, it will still be in public beta.
