Rockstar unveils its own launcher for PC, and GTA: San Andreas is a freebie on it

The world of game launchers on PC just got a little larger again, as Rockstar Games put forth its own launcher today. This doesn"t seem to be a third-party games offering launcher à la Epic Games, instead being a place to directly purchase the studio"s past works and play them for fans.

To entice users to come and check it out, Rockstar is giving away Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for a limited time on the launcher. The hugely popular classic action game can currently be claimed by simply downloading and installing the Rockstar Launcher on Windows and "purchasing" it for the low, low price of free, adding it to the library permanently.

The launcher seems to be still in its early stages but touts cloud saves and automatic updates. Games up for purchase at the time of writing include more Grand Theft Auto titles (strangely excluding GTA IV), L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, and Bully. GTA V"s Shark Cards are purchasable directly from the store as well.

It can also scan users" PCs to detect any purchased Rockstar games from other launchers, like Steam, to add them to its library for easy access.

Rockstar Games Launcher may also be where the company plans to launch Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC at some point. Although the game hasn"t been confirmed for the platform just yet, leaks have continued to trickle in alluding to a port.
