Roku is making it easier to get a stereo sound system set up in your home with a new update that will be rolling out on February. The company will be enabling its Roku TV Wireless Speakers to pair wirelessly with Roku Smart Soundbars to deliver stereo audio without the need for cables going around the room.
Because you don"t need to buy the wireless speakers and the soundbar together, this also means it"s easier to evolve your surround sound system as you go, instead of buying it all at once. The wireless connectivity works with stereo speakers and wireless subwoofers alike, so you can get multi-channel audio from the sound system.
In addition to enabling this capability, Roku also announced that Walmart will be releasing its onn.-branded Roku Wireless Surround Sound speakers, which are closely based on Roku"s original design. These can work in tandem with Walmart"s own-branded version of the Roku Smart Soundbar and Wireless Subwoofer to form a complete setup, just as you"d get with devices coming directly from Roku.
Walmart"s onn. Roku Wireless Speakers will be available in mid-February for $149, which is lower than the standard $199 pricing for Roku"s in-house equivalent. However, the latter pair is on sale for $149 from Roku"s website right now.
