Every year for the past four years, Apple has remained steady with their release schedule around mid-summer. Apple has always left their followers on the edge by announcing their exciting features only a few weeks or even days before their release date.
Apple seems to have taken a different approach this year, whether it be production or quality issues, by releasing a beta of their iOS 5 software during the summer. As the rumored release date of the iPhone 5 approaches, developers claimed they have cracked the release date schedule for iOS 5 betas, according to 9to5mac.com.
Many users may have notice, Apple released iOS 5 beta 5 on a Saturday, an odd schedule for Apple to release any product. Some users, including myself, weren"t able to receive OTA updates from beta 4 to beta 5 on our iPhone 4 (GSM), while our iPad 2 received a notification and updated without a hitch.
The speculation that Apple is releasing timed updates for the iOS software to stretch out the schedule until a (rumoured) release in September.
So if developers have actually cracked the OTA update schedule, your iOS software is pre-determined to release iOS 5 beta 6 on Wednesday August 17, 2011.
