Were you expecting the iPhone 5 to get a much larger screen than its predecessors? Then you might be disappointed. Despite reports and rumors on the Internet that claimed the next version of Apple"s smartphone will have a touch screen as large as 4.2 inches, Digitimes reports otherwise. It claims via unnamed sources that the iPhone 5"s touch screen will be between 3.5 to 3.7 inches as part of its case design. The previous versions of the iPhone have had a 3.5 inch screen.
The same report claims that the iPhone 5 will have a thinner panel that will allow the touch screen to look bigger. However it looks like the touch screen"s dimensions will remain basically the same. Other smartphones have been released that have have screens larger than four inches but they also tend to be much more bulky and harder to put inside a person"s pocket.
Apple, as usual, has not confirmed anything specific about its next version of the iPhone. The entire world is awaiting the news that Apple will be holding some sort of press event in San Francisco to fully reveal the iPhone 5 and announce its availability. As we have reported, Apple is also expected to announced that here in the US, Sprint will begin to sell the iPhone 5 alongside AT&T and Verizon Wireless. It"s also very possible that T-Mobile could also begin offering the iPhone 5 to its customers. There are also rumors that Apple could sell a cheaper 8 GB version of its current iPhone 4.
