According to various sources, the upcoming fourth generation iPod nanos will be returning to the rectangular style of the first and second-gen models with a screen not too different from the Zune"s. The iconic click wheel will still be present in the new model, but the screen will have a 1.5:1 aspect ratio, as seen on the iPod touch, as opposed to the 1.33:1 ratio found on the current iPod nanos and the iPod classic.
For those unfamiliar with the Zune, the screen will be vertically oriented, meaning lists will be longer and thinner, and videos will be rotated 90 degrees, so in order to watch a video the device has to be turned on its side. All of this means that the new iPod nano will, in fact, be larger than the previous model in exchange for a bigger screen. There"s no denying that an iPod refresh is definitely on the way, but when remains to be seen. Rumors suggest that the new iPods will be revealed later this year.
