Apple will hold its annual media event tomorrow, here"s a few predictions of what to expect.
The main rumors for tomorrow"s event include the following:
- New iPod Touch with camera
- Updated iPod Nano/Shuffle with touch screen
- New Apple TV (iTV)
Rumors of a new iPod touch with a camera and FaceTime support have been circulating for several weeks. Case manufacturers claim to have sample cases ready and features in iOS 4.1 indicate that FaceTime calling will be available to email addresses. Apple"s iPod Nano looks set for a significant update. Rumors of a touchscreen based Nano or Shuffle have been circulating recently. Several leaked images of case designs hint that the next generation Nano/Shuffle will include a touch screen and the famous click-wheel will be removed. It"s possible that Apple will merge the Nano and Shuffle lines to form a new iPod.
Apple"s much rumored TV update is a possibility for tomorrow. Engadget revealed the iTV name earlier this month but stated that the device wouldn"t be revealed until "sometime in the Fall". It"s not Fall yet but that hasn"t stopped Apple from surprising people in the past.
Macrumors speculates that Apple could outline the iPad 4.1 software update. Although it"s not likely that 4.1 will be available for iPad owners tomorrow, the company may release a developer preview for the iPad and outline its plans. Apple is also expected to announce longer preview times for songs in iTunes and TV show rentals. Speculation that Apple is planning a cloud based iTunes streaming service has been strong all year long but it"s not clear whether this service is ready yet.
Regardless of what Apple announces tomorrow, stay tuned as we"ll be covering the breaking announcements as soon as they occur here at Neowin.net
