On Tuesday, Microsoft will issue its last scheduled software update of 2012 for its PC products via its regular monthly "Patch Tuesday" event. We have already reported that it will contain a number of critical and important security patches for Windows 8, Windows RT and Internet Explorer 10.
Now a new rumor from the infamous and mysterious "MS_nerd" hints strongly that this latest "Patch Tuesday" update will have a lot more than just security upgrades. He used his Twitter account to post this rather cryptic message on Saturday, "This patch Tuesday is going to be important for getting Surface ready for the next step. Some services are going to be updated as well."
"MS_nerd" doesn"t go into any details on what he means by "getting Surface ready for the next step". As far as updating some of Microsoft"s services, it would seem logical that Skype, SkyDrive, Office 365 and other Microsoft products could get a final feature update this Tuesday to wrap up 2012.
In any case, it"s looking like Tuesday could be Microsoft"s final big news day for 2012 in terms of software upgrades and announcements. We will see if "MS_nerd", who has an up-and-down trend on his rumors turning out to be true, is correct in the very near future.
