Ryan Reynolds, the actor famous for playing Deadpool and Pikachu in Pokémon Detective Pikachu, has purchased an ownership stake in Mint Mobile. The actor compared this purchase to other celebrities investing in "high-end products like skincare brands or delicious gin companies", saying that this "unconventional" business move excites him because he believes that an average American pays too much for their wireless plan.

Reynolds now includes "owner: (...) @MintMobile" in his Twitter bio, describing himself as "owner of the company" in his tweet. According to the press release, Reynolds will "help with Mint’s communications and marketing efforts as well as strategic decision-making."
