Following a widely reported leak at the end of last month suggesting that Samsung was gearing up to release a "Glossy Black" version of the Galaxy S7 edge, this now appears to be the case, as the company has officially announced the new offering, which is actually called "Black Pearl". It is the seventh color edition of the Galaxy S7 edge, with the others being White Pearl, Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, Blue Coral, and Pink Gold.
The new Black Pearl Galaxy S7 edge will be available in select markets starting December 9, which includes South Korea, with 128GB of internal storage. In that country, the Black Pearl variant has been priced at 1,012,000 won, which converts to roughly $869 (USD). The company hasn’t provided a list of markets where the Black Pearl Galaxy S7 edge will be going on sale yet, so those interested will have to keep an eye on if Samsung makes those details available in the coming days.
Samsung says that the new Black Pearl color "was designed to be modern and striking" and that the "sleek black finish blankets the entire device – edges and all – and adds depth to its glass design." The Korean company also noted that the color follows the Blue Coral and Pink Gold editions, which were released earlier this year, no mention of Captain Jack Sparrow though...
The Samsung S7 edge scored highly with my colleague Robbie Khan, who reviewed the Exynos variant back in April, you can check out his review here.
