Just after Samsung had made plans to end their Music Hub streaming service on July 1, the company has announced that they will be rolling out a new video service that will bring TV shows from the U.S. and Britain to the Asian region. The service will begin rolling out to citizens of Singapore and the Philippines in the third quarter of this year.
The new streaming service was unveiled with the moniker "Project Glue" and will be powered by Movideo. "Project Glue" will allow users to have access to an entire season of a show for as little as $6.50 which is about S$8.14. The service will have the first episode of every season available for free to entice users into purchasing the whole season. This will keep many Asian consumers from having to use work-arounds to watch shows from overseas and across Europe on existing services such as Netflix, which is still unavailable in Asia.
The "Project Glue" service will be available on Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets at first, although a web-based version as well as a version for the Samsung TV is still in development. There"s no doubt that as Samsung is struggling to stay relevant with their streaming services here in the U.S., they are also trying their best to branch out into different markets such as Asia.
