Amid anticipation of the reveal of the hotly anticipated Galaxy S8, Samsung has announced another Android smartphone: the Galaxy XCover 4.
As the successor to the rugged Galaxy XCover 3, Samsung claims the Galaxy XCover 4 has a "hard shell" and a "smart core". The handset features a 4.99 inch TFT HD screen, and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor. The Galaxy XCover 4 has double the storage space of its predecessor, with 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded with a micro-SD card. The device will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat.
In terms of toughness, the Galaxy XCover 4 has the IP68 rating, meaning that it is water resistant to a maximum depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes. This rating also means that the XCover 4 is protected against dust, dirt and sand. In addition to this rating, the XCover 4 is also certified by the US Military standard MIL-STD 810G. This means that the device is capable of withstanding harsh conditions such as extreme weather, mechanical shocks and vibrations, and intense solar radiation. Full specifications can be viewed below.
