Samsung began rolling out its Android 10-based One UI 2.0 beta builds back in October for devices that were enrolled in the One UI Beta Program. The rollout of beta builds began expanding to more devices and markets, with rapid updates being pushed by the company. Official documentation suggested that the update would not begin rolling out before January 2020. However, S10 devices running the beta in some markets such as Germany began receiving the stable builds.
Now, reports suggest that the official rollout of the OS update is also rolling out to non-beta users in more markets. As of writing, S10 owners in Spain, India, Poland, the UK, Ireland, Vietnam, and the UAE have begun receiving Android 10-based One UI 2.0. Users of the S10, S10+, and S10e can head to Settings > Software Update > Download and install to check for updates and begin the download. However, it must be noted that the download may not commence on the first try and it may be a few tries before the download does initiate.
It is customary for Samsung to release stable builds of the OS to users testing the software through the Beta program. It is interesting to see the South Korean giant begin rolling out the official build to non-testers already, in line with Google’s statement suggesting a 2019 release of the OS. Samsung has historically been criticized for slow software updates, and hence, the expedited timeframe is indeed is a welcome improvement for Samsung fans.
As a refresher, Samsung’s One UI 2.0 is more of an iterative update that brings with it a few Android 10 specific features such as the gesture navigation system, along with improvements to Samsung’s adaptation of the OS such as improved animations, enhanced UI elements, and more.
