Samsung has taken the necessary step to help curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). The tech giant announced that it has temporarily closed all of its physical stores in the U.S. as of March 17.
YH Eom, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics America, confirmed the nationwide closures in a message to customers. There"s no word, though, on when the stores will reopen. Eom wrote:
"As we continue to navigate these uncertain times, the health and well-being of our employees and customers are our top priority.
"We know you rely on Samsung products to stay connected, informed and entertained, as well as to keep your homes running effectively. As such, we’re taking steps to both protect and serve you during this unprecedented time."
That said, customers in the U.S. can still shop via Samsung’s online store. Also, customer support remains available via all Samsung Care channels, Facebook and Twitter, courtesy of virtual teams. Samsung also vows to fulfill all orders from its online marketplace as soon as possible.
The South Korean tech giant"s move comes after Apple announced closure of all its stores in the country a few days ago, followed by Microsoft. The COVID-19 pandemic has already caused 121 deaths in the U.S. alone and 8,700 worldwide as of this writing.
