Samsung, Ericsson Agree to Cross Patents

South Korea"s Samsung Electronics Company and Sweden"s LM Ericsson have concluded a cross-licensing agreement on patents in wireless communications technology. The agreement allows the two companies to use each other"s patents covering second-generation and third-generation wireless technology and hence all patent-related lawsuits filed against each other have been withdrawn. Samsung spokeswoman Lee Soo-jeong could not provide any other details, including how many patent lawsuits had been pending. Suwon-based Samsung is the world"s third-largest producer of mobile phones and Stockholm-based Ericsson is the world"s largest wireless network maker. The two companies had decided not to publicly disclose certain information in the agreement.
