Samsung launched its A-series mid-ranger, the Galaxy A70, back in March 2019. The device came with a massive 6.7-inch FHD+ (2400x1080) display sporting a 20:9 aspect ratio. As is expected from a device in 2019, the phone came with Samsung’s Super AMOLED Infinity-U display. Now, leaks offer a look at the possible successor to this device, dubbed the Galaxy A71.
Renders based on the leaks and people familiar with the information suggest that the device will receive a design overhaul in the form of a new camera housing. The display is expected to now house a centered punch-hole design, employing the company’s Super AMOLED Infinity-O panel.
Renders point towards the presence of four cameras placed in an L-shaped arrangement inside a rectangular housing, akin to the shape on the Pixel 4 and iPhone 11. As was the case with its predecessor, the phone is expected to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The device is expected to house a 32MP shooter at the front, with rumors pointing at a 48MP main shooter, 12MP wide-angle, and 12MP telephoto trio coupled with a ToF sensor at the rear.
Earlier Geekbench tests have suggested that the device might ship with 8GB or RAM running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 processor, but one would expect that the specifications would change considering how early the device was spotted. Interestingly, the device seems to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack – something that Samsung has begun excluding in its flagship offerings.
The A71 is expected to be launch early next year. While these renders are indicative of the design, it is possible that plans might change internally between now and when the device is released, so it is best to take all the information with a grain of salt.
