Now that Apple has finally launched its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, it looks like Samsung is on the offensive with two imminent launches. Interestingly, Samsung will attempt to go toe-to-toe with Apple by partnering with AT&T and launching its direct iPhone 6 competitor, the Galaxy Alpha.
The Galaxy Alpha is a premium Android handset that detours from Samsung"s usual use of cheap plastics and instead utilizes metals for its exterior. The handset is a direct competitor to the iPhone 6, downsizing its screen to a more modest 4.7 inches compared to the Galaxy S5"s larger 5.1-inch display.
The Galaxy Alpha will also have a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, 12MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be available online and in retail stores starting Sept/ 26. The handset will be priced at $199.99 on a two-year agreement and $610 without a contract.
While its uncertain whether this handset will succeed, judging by the years of complaints about Samsung"s craftsmanship, this could become the sleeper hit of the year for Samsung. But, is it enough to convert Apple faithfuls?
