Samsung Galaxy Note Edge pre-orders open in UK, priced at £750 off-contract

Samsung raised quite a few eyebrows when it unveiled its unusual Galaxy Note Edge back in September, which features a distinctive display that wraps around one edge of the device. But we"ve known for some time that the handset was destined to be a "limited edition" release, and it"s certainly being priced as such.

Leading independent device retailer Carphone Warehouse is now accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy Note Edge in the UK, exclusively on Vodafone. You"ll need some deep pockets to afford the handset though - you won"t even be able to buy it on contract unless you"re willing to pay a minimum of £48.50 a month (including unlimited minutes and texts, and 4GB of 4G data), as well as £129.99 upfront for the device.

If you want to get the handset with no upfront cost, you"ll have to commit to a two-year £58.50-per-month plan, which includes 10GB of 4G data. A £54.50 plan is also available with 20GB of data, but you"ll have to pay £79.99 upfront for the device.

Key specs of the Galaxy Note Edge include:

  • 5.6-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display
  • Quad-core 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB / 64GB onboard storage (plus microSD support up to 64GB)
  • 16MP rear camera
  • 3.7MP front-facing camera
  • S Pen Stylus
  • Fingerprint sensor (like the Galaxy S5)
  • 3000mAh battery

Of course, if you"ve got really deep pockets, you can get the handset off-contract. For that, Carphone Warehouse will charge you £750.00 - around £150 more than the current price of the Galaxy Note 4.

Whether you buy on- or off-contract, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is available in black and - exclusively at Carphone Warehouse - in white too. Delivery is expected by December 12.
