Smartphone cameras these days are never complete without a night mode or variations thereof such as Night Sight on the Google Pixel phones, arguably the best in its class. While Samsung, for its part, included the "Bright Night" feature in its Galaxy S10 flagship phones, users were never really in control of when to use the camera feature since it"s the handset itself that would decide when to enable it.
Fortunately, in April, Samsung rolled out a dedicated Night mode to the Galaxy S10 series, finally putting the camera feature at the user"s disposal. Now, Night mode is also arriving for the company"s older flagship phone, the Galaxy Note9. Users in Germany, in particular, are starting to receive the update, though it"s not clear when the over-the-air update will be available in other territories.
It"s worth noting that the feature was previously released to the Galaxy S9 series, as per SamMobile. Its arrival on the Galaxy Note9 highlights the company"s effort to improve the users" camera experience on its flagship devices.
The update bumps up the firmware version to N960FXXU3CSF9 and it includes the June 2019 Android security patch. In addition, there"s now a native support for QR code scanning, removing the need for a Bixby Vision or third-party QR code-scanning tool. It comes in at a sizable 704MB, so be sure to download the update over a Wi-Fi connection.
