Samsung"s Galaxy smartphones can now be used to manage cryptocurrencies in dedicated hardware wallets such as the Ledger Nano S and Nano X, the company has announced.
Samsung has been a supporter of cryptocurrencies for some time, starting with the introduction of the Samsung Blockchain Keystore with the Samsung Galaxy S10, which allowed users to securely store these cryptocurrencies on the device. But if you prefer a form of cold, dedicated storage, companies like Ledger also make hardware wallets, such as the aforementioned Nano S and Nano X, and Samsung is now supporting these devices directly in the Blockchain Wallet app, so users can carry out transactions or import funds into the phone as needed.
These hardware wallets can be connected via Bluetooth or using a USB cable, but if you want to use Bluetooth, you"ll need to have a Galaxy phone that supports the Blockchain Keystore, which includes most Samsung flagships since the Galaxy S10. You can find a full list of supported devices here. If your phone doesn"t have the Blockchain Keystore, you can still manage hardware wallets by physically connecting them with a USB cable.
This update should be good news for cryptocurrency enthusiasts, the number of which has grown significantly in recent times. You"ll need to be running Android 9 or newer to be able to manage hardware wallets.
