The long wait for the next entry in Samsung"s Galaxy S smartphone lineup is apparently close to being over. Tweakers.net (via TheNextWeb) has posted word that it has received an invite from Samsung to attend a press event in London on May 3rd. The tag line of the invite is simply, "Come and meet the next Galaxy."
While it"s possible that Samsung could be promoting the launch of yet another Galaxy Tab product, it"s more likely that the event will lift the curtains off the Galaxy S III for the first time in public.
There have been a lot of rumors about what the next smartphone in the Android-based series will have in terms of hardware. Most suggest that it will have Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) out of the box like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Other rumors say it will have a quad-core processor, a large 4.8 inch screen and a 12 megapixel rear camera. Samsung has not commented on these rumors.
The first two Galaxy S phones have been huge sales successes for Samsung. In October, the company claimed that it had sold a combined total of 30 million Galaxy S phones since the original launched in June 2010.
