An alleged benchmark of the Galaxy S11 5G carrying the model number SM-G986B has popped up on Geekbench"s database. The benchmark listing points to the 5G variant of the Galaxy S11 coming with a massive 12GB RAM, an Exynos 990 chipset, and running Android 10.
In the Geekbench benchmark, the Galaxy S11"s Exynos 990 chip scored 427 points in the single-core benchmark and 2326 points in the multi-core benchmark. For comparison, the Exynos 9820-powered Galaxy S10 scores 760 and 2463 points in the single and multi-core benchmarks. The numbers also pale in comparison to the A13 chip found inside the iPhone 11 Pro Max which scores 1330 and 3429 in Geekbench, respectively.
The lower score of the Exynos 990 chip is puzzling but it could be due to the fact that the chip and the device both are under development and Samsung is still working on optimizing them.
Samsung only offered the top-end storage tier of the Galaxy S10+ with 12GB RAM while other variants shipped with 8GB RAM. However, the company bumped the RAM on the Note 10+ to 12GB and it looks like the same can be expected for the Galaxy S11 series, Samsung wants to ship even the non-Plus variant with the same amount of RAM.
Samsung tends to use its in-house Exynos chips on the international variant of its flagship Galaxy S and Note devices. The U.S. variant of the 5G Galaxy S11 will likely feature Qualcomm"s upcoming Snapdragon 865 chipset.
As for the Exynos 990 chip, Samsung announced it last month with a claimed 20% performance improvement compared to its predecessor. It supports displays with 120Hz high refresh rate and offers 8K video recording, both features which the Galaxy S11 is rumored to pack.
The first set of Galaxy S11 renders leaked last week which point to it coming with a centered punch-hole display and an "L" shape camera placement at the rear.
