Yesterday we found out a lot of details concerning Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S5 flagship, and now we’ve uncovered even more info. This time we have some rumors regarding the all important battery.
Yesterday’s news showed that Samsung’s new phone will be a monster of a device having a screen in the 5-inch range with an eye-blasting QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood the phone will rely on either the 64-bit enabled Exynos 6 or Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 805 CPU. Both of these are great performers but with great prowess comes great battery drain. So how well will the Galaxy S5 perform in terms of battery-life?
Well there seems to be some good news on this front. According to the latest info, the Galaxy S5 will come equipped with a massive 2,900 mAh battery. If you’re keeping score, that’s 300mAh more than the Galaxy S4. There’s even more good news, as this battery seems to be a refined version of the Li-on tech that’s in smartphones today, promising to offer up to 20% more battery capacity with the size of the battery remaining unchanged.
Finally there’s a strong possibility that the Galaxy S5 will come with fast-charging. This allows the handset to be charged from zero to full in under two hours. Combine that will the massive capacity of the battery and some very smart battery saving capabilities on the CPUs, and S5 users might have decent battery-life despite the phone’s (alleged) massive screen.
Of course this is still just a rumor and hasn"t been confirmed, so things may change by the time we finally see the device hit markets later this year. But whatever happens one thing’s for sure: battery life will be a very important aspect in all our new super-powerful handsets.
