Earlier this week at CES 2018, Samsung"s president of mobile business, DJ Koh, confirmed that the company will launch the Galaxy S9 next month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The exact availability details will be revealed at the press event in February, but until then, we can expect the rumor mill to bring us more information about the alleged device.
An image of the Samsung Galaxy S9 retail box was posted on Reddit revealing most of its specifications. As per the image, the handset will come with a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display as well as 64GB of internal storage, 4GB of RAM, iris scanner and stereo speakers by AKG.
The leaked image also reveals that the handset will come with wireless charging support, IP68 certification which makes the handset dust and water resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, and an 8MP front-facing camera.
The most interesting bit is the "Super Speed Dual Pixel 12MP" camera which features optical image stabilization with an aperture of F1.5 / F2.4 going in line with previous rumors hinting that Samsung will deploy a dual-lens camera technology with a variable aperture on its upcoming flagship device. A larger aperture will allow users to capture better images in low light conditions. So, an adjustable aperture means that users will be able to capture images with different effects and lighting conditions.
There"s no official confirmation from Samsung on any of the above, so it should all be taken with a grain of salt.
