Last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch Active2 in August. The successor to the Galaxy Watch Active, the new model had a touch-bezel, a sleek design, more accurate sensors for improved fitness tracking, fall detection, and ECG. However, Samsung made it clear during the announcement itself that the fall detection and ECG feature on the Galaxy Watch Active2 would only be available after it gets the necessary FDA approval.
It has now been over six months since the Galaxy Watch Active2 launched and yet, there has been no word from Samsung on these two features of the wearable. A Samsung Health Manager in the Samsung community has now confirmed that the company needs more time to optimize the ECG feature due to which its release has been delayed. The company did not provide any new timeframe as to when the ECG feature would make its way to the wearable.
The delay in the roll-out of the fall detection and ECG feature on the Galaxy Watch Active2 is going to frustrate existing users of the wearable. Many of them got the smartwatch due to the ECG feature only to discover that they will have to wait for months before they can actually get to use it.
