It has been a little over two years since the announcement of the Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic. While the Gear S3 has been a more prominent focus for the company, it still hasn"t forgotten about the previous model and still issues updates every now and then.
The firm has released an update to the smartwatch, giving it some optimizations that will improve battery life and also its security. There isn"t much information beyond this, but the folks at SamMobile did report that the update did hit the Netherlands, so it should be rolling out globally to other Gear S2 owners at some point.
In order to update the watch, be sure to have it connected to a compatible smartphone and open up the Gear app. In the app, you"ll be able to check to see if an update is available and it should start the download process once initialized. The update"s build version is XXU2EQJ2 and comes in at 22MB.
