Samsung Gear successor could be named 'Galaxy Watch', arrive with blood pressure monitor

Samsung Gear S3

For the past few months, there have been whispers of a new Samsung Gear wearable coming to market that will replace the Gear S3. Now, a known leaker has chimed in, giving us new details.

While it is still unknown when the next Gear watch will arrive, there is the possibility that it will be renamed. Although the moniker "Gear S4" certainly has its charm, it will reportedly arrive as the "Galaxy Watch". Not only will there be a name change but there will also apparently be a new OS running the wearable. While previous watches from Samsung have relied on its own Tizen platform, the new device could be running Android Wear, which was recently rebranded as Wear OS.

The watch will also have a larger battery when compared to the previous model, upping the capacity to 470mAh. If that wasn"t enough of a reason to upgrade, the new watch will also apparently be able to take blood pressure measurements and will also have a new UI. While this all sounds exciting, it is only a rumor for now, and things could be different when they arrive in an official capacity.
