Last month, Samsung announced a few new Windows 10 PCs from its Notebook 9 series. However, if you thought that the company was done announcing new notebooks, you"d be wrong. Today, it introduced the new Notebook 7 Spin, refreshing the one that was released a year and a half ago.
As you"d expect, the new machine uses eighth-generation Core processors from Intel. The new U-series is quad-core, whereas the seventh-generation was dual-core, so users can expect a significant increase in performance.
There"s also a 360-degree hinge, which supports an active pen that"s sold separately. The pen can be used with any of Windows 10"s many inking features, such as Ink Workspace, taking handwritten notes in OneNote, marking up webpages and PDFs in Edge, writing on photos, drawing routes in Maps, and more.
The device also includes far-field microphones. Rather than boasting about how these might be useful for a voice assistant like Cortana, Samsung points out that you can "capture every detail of meetings and lectures", and they can of course be stored in the Samsung Cloud with your 15GB of free storage.
As far as other specs go, there"s a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello, and the processor is a Core i5. It has a 13.3-inch 1080p display, 8GB RAM, and 256GB of onboard storage. You"ll find one USB Type-C port, one USB 3.0 Type-A, one USB 2.0 Type-A, HDMI, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Notebook 7 Spin will be coming to "select countries" within the first quarter of 2018.
