Samsung has been historically slow in terms of rolling out software updates to its wide range of mobile devices. But it appears the South Korean tech giant is making improvements to its timeline of update rollouts.
Samsung announced today that it has started the beta program for One UI 2.0 based on Android 10. The program is open to users of the Galaxy S10 devices in the U.S. Additionally, users in South Korea and Germany are also believed to have gained access to One UI beta (via SamMobile).
Some of the improvements introduced by One UI 2.0 are minimized pop-ups and embedded loading indicators. It also reduces space for notifications and brings enhancements to the dark mode.
The new version also introduces a fresh layout with animated icons and improved edge lighting for visual comfort to users. There"s Focus Mode as well to help you temporarily take a break from apps when you need fewer distractions.
It is worth pointing out that the beta program comes shortly after Samsung initially put off the Android 10 beta of One UI 2.0 earlier this month. Now, users of the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e both on select carrier and unlocked devices can join the beta via the Samsung Members app.
The beta program will be eventually followed by the official rollout, which will occur in the next few months, Samsung says. The company will discuss One UI 2.0 in detail at its upcoming Samsung Developers Conference, scheduled on October 29 to 30 in San Jose, California.
