Hot on the heels of Google rolling out a hand wash reminder feature for Wear OS smartwatches, Samsung has released a "Hand Wash" app for its Galaxy smartwatches running Tizen. The Hand Wash app has been developed in only two weeks by the UX and wearable teams from Samsung Research Institute-Bangalore or SRI-B, while working remotely.
The app is pretty straightforward and reminds Galaxy smartwatch owners to periodically wash their hands. Based on the WHO guidelines to fight coronavirus, the app recommends users to wash their hands thoroughly for 20 seconds. The timer itself is of 25 seconds as the additional five seconds are for turning on the tap and applying soap, with the remaining 20 seconds for the actual hand wash. At the end of the 25 seconds timer, your Galaxy smartwatch will also vibrate as a form of feedback so you won"t have to struggle to see how much time is still left while washing your hands.
The Hand Wash app also has a watch face of its own that will let users track their daily hand wash routine. It also has a complication to show the time elapsed since the last hand wash so as to remind users about their hygiene. If you own a Galaxy smartwatch, you can download the Hand Wash app from the Galaxy Store.
