Remember the clamshell design of cell phones back in the early-2000s which rarely offered anything besides calling? It may be making a comeback with the new Samsung "Master" smartphone.
The new smartphone, which was announced for South Korea, will sport a design that is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S5 as well as the Note III with its faux-leather front and back all in a retro clamshell design. This will give the phone a premium look and feel although the specs are nothing to boast about.
There will be 2G and 3G variants with colors ranging from Metallic Silver, Montblanc Black and Red Wine to choose from. The hardware is made up of a three inch 320x240 QVGA screen, a 3MP camera on the back, FM radio, and a pedometer Despite the fact that these specs are far below what is currently offered in a smartphone, having a 1000mAH battery, costing just $240 and having a clamshell body will surely appeal to consumers that are still using feature phones.
Samsung currently has no plans to offer the smartphone outside of South Korea.
