Just over a week ago, Samsung opened up registrations for the One UI beta on Galaxy S8 and S8+ handsets. In addition to gaining early access to the new interface, users would also see their devices upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie as part of the update process.
Now, the Korean company is pushing out a revision to the initial beta software in an update released earlier today, as spotted by a user on Reddit. The second beta release for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ appears to include a number of bug fixes covering the following:
- Camera app gets force closed and screen stops when use the slow motion or super slow motion
- Contact name is not applied to list after editing
- Location Tag error
- ANR occurs when switch to selfie in panorama
- When start security, screen gets frozen after inputting the pin number
- Camera preview screen appears blurred and when touch the screen, there is no response
- Recently downloaded music disappears (External SD card recognition issue)
- When save to SD while using the Samsung internet, file is not downloaded
- Unknown file appears in Myfile- Download folder
- It is overlaps with the status bar when set "setting-view option- Date and location of gallery
There"s also one known issue with this release, with respect to the People Edge functionality:
- Some devices have been forced to reboot due to a malfunction of People Edge functionality. Please turn off the People Edge function in the Edge panel, or check immediately when a missed call occurs.
This update carries software versions of G950FXXU4ZSAC and G955FXXU4ZSAC for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ respectively. But, if risking your device with pre-release software is not for you, then you may not have long to wait for an official release, with Samsung having brought forward the target rollout for these models by one month from March to February. Of course, this may be subject to change.
