Samsung releases UNPACKED 2017 app ahead of its Galaxy S8 event

With less than a week to go, ahead of its Unpacked event, Samsung has revealed an Android companion app that will allow those attending the event quick access. For those that are not attending, the app will offer a variety of event videos and a convenient place to watch the livestream.

The app is currently available from the Google Play Store and as of now offers access to three different categories: event info, event videos, and registration. When you click the "event info" item, it will show you the two locations that Samsung is holding its event - London and New York.

The "event videos" section is currently only populated with two videos, one of which is the Unpacked event trailer from Mobile World Congress. Lastly, is the coveted "registration" section that requests the email address and invitation code of those invited. While it is currently grayed out, there is also a section for live streaming that will most likely go live when the event takes place.

After months of various leaks, there isn"t much to be surprised about when it comes to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The handset will most likely be powered by Qualcomm"s latest processor, the Snapdragon 835 and offer 4GB RAM. The device will also feature a near bezel-less WQHD+ display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Perhaps the more interesting aspects of the device will be the now confirmed Bixby virtual assistant and the DeX Station accessory.

As of right now, the timer is at five days and counting down. Samsung will officially take the wraps off the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on March 29.
