Eight months ago, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy TabPro S tablet, featuring Windows 10 and a detachable keyboard. Now, Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch updated versions of the tablet, featuring the latest and greatest Intel processors and possibly LTE connectivity.
Back when the original Galaxy TabPro S was unveiled, many noticed how the tablet was very much a Microsoft Surface clone. However, after spending some time with the device, we came away impressed, a sentiment shared by many of the device"s users. The ultra-light and compact tablet had a very high-quality build, a good screen and decently powerful components.
Now, according to a report from SamMobile, Samsung is preparing its follow-up, in the form of the Galaxy TabPro S2. The new device might come in four SKUs, based on the model version numbers. Though details are currently scarce, the new TabPro S2 is expected to hold on to the 12-inch S-AMOLED display, and the original’s svelte metallic build. However, it will feature updated internals, likely including the 7th generation of Intel’s Core M processors, expected to debut later this year.
Here’s hoping the new device also features a better detachable keyboard, as that was the only aspect where we found the original TabPro S to be lacking.
Given that the current TabPro S is still less than a year old, and still very much a capable device, we’re likely to have to wait a few months before we find out what Samsung’s been cooking. Going by the original’s unveiling date, and Intel’s schedule for the rest of year, we’re betting the TabPro S2 might be unveiled early next year. However, that’s just an educated guess on our part and until Samsung says otherwise, we’ll just have to wait for more info.
