While many of the significant details concerning the Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ have already been leaked, including some marketing materials in the last 24 hours, there are still some gaps in the specifications that are being filled in. Although the forthcoming handsets are expected to incorporate a Snapdragon 855 or Samsung Exynos 9825 SoC, it"s the latter that has been fleshed out in greater detail ahead of the imminent Galaxy Unpacked event.
Taking over as the flagship in the Exynos stable from the 9820, the 9825 features support for the following:
Exynos 9825 | Exynos 9820 | |
---|---|---|
CPU | 2 x M4 2 x Cortex-A75 4 x Cortex-A55 | 2 x M4 @ 2.73GHz 2 x Cortex-A75 @ 2.31GHz 4 x Cortex-A55 @1.95GHz |
GPU | Mali G76 MP12 | Mali G76 MP12 |
Memory | LPDDR4X @ 2093MHz | LPDDR4X @ 2093MHz |
Camera | Rear: 22MP Front: 22MP Dual: 16MP + 16MP | Rear: 22MP Front: 22MP Dual: 16MP + 16MP |
Video | 8K @ 30fps / 4K @ 150fps | 8K @ 30fps / 4K @ 150fps |
LTE | Download: LTE-Advanced Pro Cat.20 8CA 2Gbps | Download: LTE-Advanced Pro Cat.20 8CA 2Gbps |
Process | 7nm LPP EUV | 8nm LPP |
On paper, there appears to not be much differentiating the two SoCs aside from the manufacturing process having shrunk by 1nm. While Samsung"s minisite dedicated to the Exynos 9825 stops short of mentioning the clock speeds for the CPU cores, it would be expected that they would match those of its predecessor given the strikingly similar specs to the 9820. Although the 9825 integrates a 4G modem, it should be noted that the Exynos 9825 can be teamed up with the Exynos Modem 5100 to provide 5G connectivity.
At this stage, it remains to be seen as to whether or not there may be other improvements lurking under the hood of the Exynos 9825 but, for the time being, it seems that improved battery life will be the main selling point.
