When Samsung first announced the Galaxy Note, reviewers were blown away with the smartphone"s huge 5.3 inch screen. However, that wasn"t enough for Samsung. Today, the company officially announced plans to launch a 10.1 inch version of the Galaxy Note, turning it into a full fledged tablet device.
The 10.1 inch version will keep the original"s S Note stylus and software which will allow its users to write notes on apps, sketch drawings or concepts and more. It also comes with versions of Adobe Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas that are optimized for the tablet and the S Note.
The hardware inside the Galaxy Note 10.1 includes a 1.4 Ghz dual core processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) out of the box. Samsung has yet to reveal a release date or price point for the device.
This represents just the latest Android tablet that has been launched by Samsung since it released the original Galaxy Tab over a year ago. So far none of the tablets have been a sales hit for the company, which is something that even its executives admit. In a story at News.com, Hankil Yoon, a product strategy executive for Samsung, said on Monday during a World Mobile Congress meeting, "Honestly, we"re not doing very well in the tablet market."
